Healing Hearts, Changing Lives

Around this time every year, North Texans come together for one of the most powerful community events of the year: North Texas Giving Day which runs from August 27th through September 17th. is organized by Communities Foundation of Texas and is the largest community-wide giving event in the nation.  Last year over 100,000 North Texans gave $78 million to over 3,500 local nonprofits. Julia’s Center for Healthcare is one of the nonprofits that benefits from this outpouring of generosity during North Texas Giving Days.

Julia’s Center is an all-volunteer run clinic in Plano serving the uninsured adult residents of Collin County. The clinic is named after Julia Grenier, RN, who founded the first free and charitable clinic in Collin County, and gave the better part of her life in service of her neighbors. Because Collin County has no county hospital, uninsured working adults often delay care until problems become emergencies. Since opening its doors, Julia’s Center has provided free chronic medical care to over 10,000 uninsured patients.  The Center opens in the evening (when working patients can more easily attend), and it's staffed entirely with volunteer doctors, nurses, and support staff.

Funds raised on North Texas Giving Day help cover critical operational needs like supplies, lab costs, equipment, rent, and utilities. In recent years the clinic has seen a growing demand, and it relies heavily on the generosity of the community and the dedication of its volunteers.  Whether you can give $25 or $2500, your donation during North Texas Giving Days to support Julia’s Center will make a direct difference.
